In one of our tips, we talked about how  Navy Seal Accomplishes His Mission and emphasized the importance of summarizing your key points at the end of your presentation.

For business presentations, we find it is helpful to have this simple, 2-part approach when preparing a purposeful closing that your audience can remember.

 1. Summarize your 3-5 main points (As we talked about…)
  1. …..
  2. ….
  3. ….
2. Emphasize your purpose statement and what you want the audience to do:

a.    Your Core Message

What this all boils down to is…

b.     Why the audience should care

        This is important/significant because…

c.      What you want the audience to do

Again, what I would like from you is…

It is important to always keep in mind that audiences tend to remember what you share in your opening and your closing.  An effective opening will engage your audience to listen to what you have to say…  But a purposeful closing, wrapping up the entire presentation, reminding them why they should care, and asking them to take action, can make the difference between a presentation easily forgotten and one that is memorable.
