1 Coaching Shift to Level Up Communication

1 Coaching Shift to Level Up Communication

We’ve coached thousands of professionals on their communication and presentation skills—and one small coaching shift can have a big impact:

Coach for clarity, not perfection.

Clients often think they need the perfect words. But what truly moves an audience is clear thinking and authentic delivery.

So, when you’re coaching someone on an upcoming communication or presentation (yourself or someone else), ask:

  • “What’s the core idea here?”
  • “How does this core idea relate to the audience?”
  • “At the end, what do you want the audience to do?”

Once the answers are distilled to the point where they could fit on a T-shirt, the purpose is clear. Now, build a story to support that purpose.

Bonus tip: Communicate these answers in the opening and watch the audience engage in the message.

25 years in, we still believe great communication is learned—and we’re here to help.
