What All Presenters can Learn this Summer

It’s summertime, which for many of us means more time communicating with children. Here at 2Connect, we also see it as a time to practice what many presenters could be doing more of in business – simplifying their content so even children could understand it!

Think your content is too complex to do that? In the video below, Neville Sanjana, Biologist at New York University and The New York Genome Center, talks about a very complex idea – CRISPR – to children and adults alike. Click on the video at the end of this post to see Neville explain this concept at varying levels of complexity.

What are the takeaways?

  • Think about what your audience knows – and doesn’t know – about your topic.
  • Calibrate your content based on their knowledge and interests.
  • Use relevant analogies, metaphors or imagery to help them understand and remember your content.

You may think going to the beach with your kids on a Thursday is playing hooky. We see it as investing time to practice a very important business skill. Here’s to more beach time this summer.
